Childcare Funding Information

From 9 months:
Eligible working families may access 30 hours of funded childcare. Applications can be made via the Best Start in Life website.

Ages 2–3 years:
Families on a low income may be eligible for 15 hours of funded childcare through the North Tyneside Council website, if they do not qualify for the 30-hour working entitlement.

Ages 3–5 years:
All children are entitled to 15 hours of universal funded childcare. An additional 15 hours (up to 30 hours total) is available to eligible working families via the Best Start in Life website.

To check your eligibility for childcare funding, please visit the North Tyneside Council website or www.beststartinlife.gov.uk.

If you are eligible, you will need to apply for a funding code and share this with us before the relevant deadline in order to access your funded hours. Please note that 30-hour funding codes must be renewed every three months to remain valid.

Funding can be accessed either term-time only or stretched across the year. Please speak with a member of the management team to discuss the option that best suits your family’s needs.

Please note that funding is allocated from the term following your child reaching the eligible age.

Consumables Charges

Government funding covers the cost of delivering basic childcare provision only and does not include additional services that enhance your child’s daily experience and overall time with us. A consumables fee is therefore applied to funded places, calculated per funded week. This fee contributes towards additional essential items and services, including (but not limited to): All meals and snacks throughout the day, healthcare supplies e.g. Antihistamine/Calpol, additional nursery events (e.g. Hartbeeps), sun cream, nappies and wipes, additional organised excursions beyond our immediate surroundings, Forest Friends sessions etc.

If you prefer to opt out of this fee, please speak with a member of the team to discuss alternative arrangements.
